Ever planned something that seemed like a good idea at the time, and then realized – just before starting – that it wasn’t such a great idea?
That’s me, this morning. I planned to take some time off work today, a while back, for a medical appointment for my rare disease. The appointment’s at 1300, at a hospital in Montréal’s city centre (downtown) area.
It’s a drive of between 30 & 60 minutes, depending on traffic. And road construction detours; a frequent challenge in our area.
Then I thought it would be a good idea to take the whole day off, to coordinate 2 other appointments on the same date. But at 2 other hospitals downtown; at 1545 & at 1730. Then I added in a stop at a 4th hospital.
So now I’m wondering how I’m going to get through the day!
Before I was struck with a neuroinflammatory disease, this would’ve been a breeze. I often visited multiple hospitals in a day, for work; my field is biomedical ethics (also called bioethics).
But doing this as a patient seems exhausting, almost overwhelming, and I haven’t even left home yet! And I’m worrying what will happen if just 1 appointment runs late, which would make me late for the other appointments…
Wish me luck!
