My upcoming pain talk 25.11.2023

Posted on25.11.202312.01.2024

There’s something coming up that’s art-related, but not in a way that you might expect. Next month I’ll be giving a presentation on the Limbic System and chronic pain at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) pain clinic here in Montréal. The Limbic System is Read More …

A watercolour painting of imaginary pain nerves

A month of pain *pain*tings

Posted on01.10.202310.10.2023

These are a few of my favourite watercolours, from the painting-a-day challenge I set for myself in September. With the word “pain” built right into painting, I decided to create a month-long series of fairly quick lunch-, dinner-, or break-time watercolours to mark international Pain Read More …

On September 1, 2022 I was quoted by the Artists' Network, in their Instagram account. This is a screenshot of their post on that date, showing my response to their question: "How to avoid overworking a painting?". My reply: "With watercolors I try to put my brush down before a painting feels finished. Then I critique it a day or two later, add pigment if needed."

On this date & Pain Awareness Month!

A fun art-related “on this date” memory from last year: I was quoted in an international art magazine, the very aptly named Artists Magazine, from The Artists’ Network! – pretty cool for an emerging (new) artist. And fantastic timing for today, the start of International Pain Awareness Month. Read More …

#ArtDespitePain in a magazine 20.08.2023

Posted on20.08.202325.08.2023

Last month I found out that several of my watercolour paintings would appear in upcoming issues of two different magazines, for two different features on how my art practice is intertwined with my chronic pain advocacy. One of these has just been published. When I first Read More …
