Great news – My friend Sazini will soon be a published book author! She has dedicated the past 10 years or so of her life to helping families with autism spectrum disorder (ASD); to help parents see through the diagnosis, to the beautiful child within.
I’ve watched as her profile changed from Sazini Nzula, PhD (medical microbiology) – working at McGill University’s Department of Microbiology and Immunology – to Dr. Sazini; an expert on parenting children with autism.
How dedicated is she, to helping children – and their parents – attain as many development goals as possible? First she became certified in Qigong Sensory Treatment (QST) therapy, which has shown promise and benefits for children with ASD. Then she became involved with preschools and schools for children with ASD and other special needs.
Now she also advocates for better services and support for families of children with ASD and other special educational requirements. Sazini has also shed light on the specific challenges of ASD in cultures in which it is seen as a curse, or even as witchcraft.
Stories of families who’re so ashamed of their child that they feel obliged to hide them away, or move far from their families and loved ones. Away from their support networks.
So she created an on-line course (“Calm Autism Parenting Coaching”), and gives motivational presentations for parents of children with special needs – from around the globe (“Embrace the Challenges”).
She has always, always, stressed the importance of seeing past the diagnosis; to the child within. Her goal is to assist families in helping a child with ASD – or any special needs – to attain as many developmental, educational, and social goals as possible.
Dr. Sazini has written for The Mighty, Autism Parenting Magazine, Break the Parenting Mold, as well as Team Buntu. She has been interviewed or featured on shows broadcasted by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CJAD Radio, Global Television Network, and other television, radio, and media.
And Dr. Sazini has just been interviewed by Breakfast Television (BT TV). This interview is available on-line (see the links below).
Stay tuned for news about her book!
