Thanks so much to the team at “Bold Journey” international magazine, for this feature about my off-the-beaten-path journey from chronic pain patient to Patient Partner – and co-author of research papers – to professional artist.
Published on May 4, 2026, this piece touches on how my art is completely intertwined with both my chronic pain experience and my Disability, a mid-life Mild Cognitive Impairment, and explains why “I paint because of pain”.
My #ArtDespitePain initiative gets a mention, of course, along with my path from pain-patient to professional artist (under both the Canada Council for the Arts and the much more stringent provincial Regroupement des artistes en arts visuels du Québec or RAAV).
Read the article to find out how a “perfectionistic approach to art can stifle creativity”, the importance of “being true to myself”, and why “in my art practice I unfailingly feel that my next piece will be my best one yet.”
